About Us

Matt grew up in Victoria BC. He moved to Alberta when he was 15 and started working ranches and feedlots in his early 20's. In 2002 he applied to Olds College for the farrier program. This is where he found his passion! He finished school and completed a 4-year apprenticeship with Nathan Powell. He has competed around the world and has been on the Canadian Farriers Team numerous times. He runs a full-time successful farrier business in the Cochrane and Calgary area shoeing a variety of horses the majority of his clients being jumpers.

Marlies grew up in BC on a cattle ranch where her love of horses began. In 1997 she attended farrier school at Lakeland College. She returned to the Columbia Valley and Shod horses. In 2000 she moved to Alberta and worked on cattle and horse ranches, shoeing horses as well. She met Matt in 2002 and they were married in 2006. They have three children who are active in sports, 4H and helping around the acreage and business
